WHEN:
The year 1999. Thalia has been wrongly incarcerated for more
than 25 years! She has missed out on the entire lives of her
three children:(...
HOW:
The so-called "public defender" failed to do his job and bring forth
any evidence or witness that would have exonerated Mrs.
Outlaw. He was even heard whistling in court and told the Judge
he was feeling unconscious.
This case is a Travesty of Justice and shines a dark light on our
legal systems and the consciousness of our Country.
FACTS OF THE CASE:
Thalia was a victim of domestic violence from her ex-boyfriend
and in fact filed 15 Police Reports against him for beating her,
burning her and stalking her.
On the 16th incident, Thalia defended herself from a knife
attack that occurred on July 6th, 1997.
Thalia was 3 months pregnant at the time and also had a 2-
year old and 7-year old son. That fateful day, Thalia defended
herself from a knife attack and fought back to protect her and her
unborn child. She tussled with her attacker grabbing his wrists to
prevent from being stabbed. During this altercation her attacker
rolled back over a chair and sustained a self-inflicted knife wound
near his clavicle area. Her attacker continued to assault her,
punching Mrs. Outlaw in the stomach and saying he was going
to kill her and her unborn child.
His friends who were in the house broke up the fight and Thalia
left to file her 16th police report.
Her attacker also left to drive himself to the hospital.
While filing her 16th police report the police station was notified
that her attacker had died at the hospital.
Unbelievably, Thalia was arrested for murder.
Thalia was soon released and was assured by detectives that she
had nothing to worry about and that it was self-defense. It's
possible that the State of Mississippi did not want to try a
pregnant woman. Thalia gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named
Octavia and was rebuilding her life.
Approximately 18 months later Thalia was brought to trial
and convicted within 24 hours to Life in Prison without
parole.
In the history of US law, I have been unable to find a case where
someone has been convicted to Life in Prison in a 24-hour trial!
To put this is context:
Jeffrey Dahmer the serial killer who dismembered and ate his
victims flesh received a 2 week trial.
Richard Ramirez (The Night Stalker) who murdered at least 13
victims received a trial that lasted one year.
WE should all be OUTRAGED.
WE DEMAND THALIA'S IMMEDIATE RELEASE
so she could
be free and heal with her children and hold her baby
grandchildren in her arms for the first time.
Thalia has been a model citizen. She is called Mom by many in
her prison and mentors many of the young women coming into
the prison system.
Thalia deserves to be FREE more than anyone!!!
26 YEARS LOST IS WAY TOO MANY!
